Mary beat me to it!
Up in Lakeshore, Mi; on the farm we had a snap electric line heater that was set to come on at about 35F so it wouldn't begin to even cloud up. This was used for the Fuel oil heater, though.
I have a CDH (Chinese Diesel heater) that I use Bio-D in. I typically add a bit of unleaded gas to it to keep the viscosity decent. Here in the Midwest, that doesn't happen until around middle of December.
Waste oil is getting harder to find, and not nearly as clean as it used to be.

I'm curious to see this fired up!!

Cheers!!

Well finally got to the live fire testing, and well, it lit, and down hill from there!

The tubing I had is unfit for the purpose, so had to order new.

The Relief valve is leaking, Air relief is poor operating.

PT Gauge is only working on temp.

So lots of stuff ordered

Well got burner dialed in pretty good, replaced PT Gauge and PT valve, pressure tank needs new O-ring and temp sensor for aqua stat could use some re-seating but other wise pretty well done on that end. Just need to clean up electrical and air lines, finish the final covering for the shed, then rest of the work will be inside the house for the final pipe routing and heat exchangers.

Wish I could attache videos, got a few of the testing.

Well got the new pipe in and the fittings and inhibitors and every thing, except for the critical thing, crimp rings <_<

Will have them tomorrow so hope to have the piping all done.

Did the math and just the main loop pipe will give 2.35K Btu/H just on its own!

Pipe is Vipert Radiant 1" O2 barrier

Well boiler ran all day, didn't explode or burn down or fail in any weird and creative way, no ruptured pipes! I can finally relax a bit

I had to adjust some of the fire control timings

Pre purge reduced to 20 seconds
Flame trial upped to 30 seconds from 15
Post purge reduced to 1m vs 1m30s
Nozzle air pressure: 14psi
Nozzle fuel lift: 0.25 inch apx

Cycle time 3m 30s and that takes apx 10 gal from 61c to 85c (Cut off is 70c but the aqua state seems slow so over shoots)

So need to just fine tune, and finish the inside stuff.

And the forwoman keeping an eye on the post project clean up!

Boiler been operating very well no ignition issues since tweaking the settings.

So got a coil set up that I had laying around, crude and fuggly but working!

Well boiler has done 92 burn cycles with no errors since  the controller was adjusted

30.6 cycles a day (bit more than I'd like to see but no buffer tank so not much thermal mass) so averages out to 30.7 burn cycles in a 24H period, calculated 2.5L per 10 burn cycles, so average day is 7.7L of veggie oil a day at fall temps, if it can maintain that in the deeper cold I am laughing, next goal is to get an old electric tank and splice it in the loop as a buffer tank

So far the lil coil has been managing to keep the place quite comfortable, the fan behind it really help push the heat!

well did the final drain of the cleaning solution and flushed the boiler, it now has the final charge with corrosion inhibitors in it

That ain't oil in that jug! It used to look a nice clear reddish color when it went in!

This is why you never skip the cleaning step when making a new system!
